Photo Journal : Winter Wonderland

Wednesday, February 22, 2017

I've recently come to the conclusion that I love to be in front of the camera (shocker!). Before starting my blog I have never taken anything more than iPhone selfies. I have really come to love taking these photo shoots ! Having the right camera woman really does the trick. Its really important to feel comfortable in front of a camera. On this cold winter day a couple of my friends and I decided to take this cool shoot (literally). Despite the pictures coming out better than I could even imagine, we certainly we through a lot to get some of these shots ! I hope you enjoy this winter wonderland photo diary !

Gusto Grille

As you all know I have a passion for food (good food to say the least). I'm sure you have those restaurant's you pass a billion times but never take the time to actually stop at. Gusto Grill was one of them for me. I went for a cute little lunch date with my long time best friend (who as well has the same passion for tasting new things as I do). The ambiance of the restaurant was certainly exceptional with a classic but modern menu. It was the perfect mix of upscale meets causal. I ordered 3 of their small plates (I love getting multiple smaller plates rather than one large entree, just so I can get a little sample of everything). I ordered the pork belly with sweet potato puree (Pictured). The baked mac and cheese and the crab cakes.

The Pork Belly w/ sweet potato puree: From what I ordered this had to be my favorite ! It was cooked to perfection. Flavored with maple syrup and brown sugar, it was a explosion of sweet and salty in your mouth ! The sweet potato puree was just enough of small flavor to top it off  !

The Baked Macaroni and Cheese: I am such a mac and cheese lover, but this really disappointed me. I was so bland and flavorless. I am also not a fan of breadcrumbs on my mac and cheese. I actually think they took it off the menu since I had gone !

The Crab Cake: Now I must say this was a very good crab cake. Nice and flavorful and juicy. I really enjoyed it, I was so sad they were so tiny. The sauce it came with was also really yummy.

Printed Cape Scarf + Knee High Boots

Sunday, February 5, 2017

Where I live we typically have all four seasons ranging to hot 90 degree summers to 20 degree winters, Jersey has it all. Lately, the weather has been so tricky to keep up with, you never know what type of weather you are going to get until you walk outside. For warmer winter weather like this, I love just throwing on an oversized scarf with a sweater. It makes it so easy to layer up if you're feeling a little chilly or warm underneath. I paired this printed scarf with a solid white knitted sweater, dark denim jeans, and my favorite (and oh so affordable and cute) knee high boots.

Whats New ? Where have I been ? + Whats to come

Sunday, September 25, 2016

I just wanted to take the time to thank everyone who has supported and read my blog. From the views (over two thousand !!) to the texts, emails, comments, and messages of support. It is so appreciated ! For the longest, I've simply wanted to start my blog and that exactly what I've done. Over the past weeks, I've been sitting here wondering what my next move will actually be. Trying to figure out what my readers want to see, I've gotten some great content ideas, and I'm moving in a new direction with my blog. I have not left and I promise there is certainly more to come. Keeping up with a blog, 7 classes, 2 jobs and just maintaining life, in general, is a difficult task. I'm excited for this next fall shoot with some looks I've been dying to showcase, and I'm also going to get into a little more lifestyle and editorial blogging. Sometimes I like to just sit down and type and thoughts to whoever feels like reading them and can relate ! Thank you all for sticking with me ! Happy fall !

Style Profile: Micaela

Sunday, July 17, 2016
As I mentioned earlier this blog isn't all about me. Theirs only but so much I can cover, that's why I've enlisted the help of some pretty cool people along the away. What I hated the most about other blogs is that many fashion bloggers stuck to one style, now granted I know that everyone has their own personal style but there was never any variation. I love showcasing the style of my friends and people I know which lead me to create a monthly segment called "style profiles". Shining a spotlight on some pretty awesome (and different from my own) style! Without further ado, I present to you this months style profile Micaela!

Name: Micaela Estevez

School: University of Rhode Island Class of ‘18

Major: Public Relations with a minor in Business

Career goals: creative for an advertising firm, fashion magazine or sports

Fashion inspiration: Kendall Jenner, Vanessa Hudgens, Gigi Hadid, Tess Christine, Zendaya

Favorite pieces to own: distressed boyfriend jeans, a LOT of bathing suits, oversized T-shirts, and bralettes

Favorite stores: PacSun, Brandy Melville, Garage, TopShop, H&M

Describe your style: I would say it’s a combination of boho and tomboyish, it really depends on my mood. Some days I feel like dressing up a bit more and wear more trendy outfits but most of the time I usually go for more of a care-free vibe. Especially in the summer, I’m all about beachy looks.

Knot so simple

Thursday, July 7, 2016

If you haven't caught on to my style yet, I like simple. I stay away from over accessorizing, over layering and pushing fashion boundaries. I like to stay rather safe but still fashinable and cute it's just more realistic for me. Looking for outfit inspiration, the tee shirt + body con skirt combination really caught my eye. Again, easy, cute and comfortable are my three favorite words when describing my style. Since I used such simple pieces for this look I let my shoes do the talking. These bad boys are a cute pair of Valentino rock stud lookalike heels (running for about $1,000) that I found online for a fraction of the price ! Sometimes It can be hard styling these because they aren't your everyday simple pumps but wearing them makes me feel like I can take on the world. Plus they are comfortable and not very high (although when I got tired of wearing them I traded them in for some flip flops). To give this look a little more flair I tied a plain grey tee shirt into a knot, making it cropped and adding to the look.

Dress me up ?

Tuesday, July 5, 2016

A great layering piece is always important to any closet. I'm in love with these trendy minimalistic long lined vests. They are an easy and perfect addition to any outfit. Throw one of these on and you have a sophisticated and structured look. I picked up this vest up from forever 21 (as usual) along with the lace-up heels. I must say the heels looked so good with the outfit but from a realistic standpoint, I wouldn't wear heels on a daily basis. I also styled the outfit with a pair of Nike Roshes and a hat, giving the outfit a more relaxed vibe that's way more wearable on a daily basis (especially being on a college campus with nothing but hills). The simple pieces under it bring the outfit together, and did I also mention this outfit is super comfortable? Comfort and cute go hand in hand in my fashion vocabulary so this look was certainly a win.
